Jill Biden Discusses Media Coverage and Memoir

Former First Lady Jill Biden recently talked with “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg about her memoir, “A View from the East Wing,” and her life in politics. This conversation occurred in June during an event held at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

Goldberg inquired if Jill Biden felt the media covered President Joe Biden’s term fairly. The former First Lady hesitated before expressing uncertainty. She stated, “You know, I think probably, well, I mean, seeing how things are now, I don’t know. I don’t know. I’d have to think about that.”

Jill Biden expressed a sense that the administration could have improved its relationship with the media. She suggested they might have engaged more openly with journalists. “But, you know, maybe we could have done more to reach out to the press to be more open so that they understood us as real people and not sort of these figureheads. That’s one thing I do regret, that maybe we could have formed closer relationships,” she said.

Biden also noted a perceived “double standard” in media coverage between the Biden and Trump administrations. “You know, if Joe would have done any one of the things that are occurring now, I mean he would have been excoriated,” she remarked. Goldberg commented with a chuckle, “Oh yeah.”

Further discussing her memoir, Biden defended against critics who accused the book of reigniting past controversies from the 2024 election. At a book event in Washington, D.C., she addressed comments from former White House spokesman Andrew Bates, who questioned the need for revisiting these contentious topics. According to the New York Post, Biden replied, “I want to say to Andrew: Call me up, and say it to my face, buddy.” She emphasized that only “one chapter on politics” existed in her memoir.

No immediate response came from the White House when Fox News Digital reached out for a comment regarding the matter.
