A man crashed his vehicle into the wooden gate of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s East Hampton residence on a Wednesday afternoon. Police identified the individual as 63-year-old Keith Jonathan Webster from the Bronx.
Webster faces charges of felony criminal mischief in the second degree and misdemeanor criminal trespass in the third degree. The police report noted that the front gate sustained ‘significant front end damage.’ A witness reported that Webster drove at a high speed up the driveway, breaking through the gate and stopping only after entering the driveway.
The vehicle involved was impounded for evidence. Authorities transported Webster to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital after he reported an injury during processing. After hospital treatment, police took him back into custody.
Webster had his arraignment on Thursday. Justice Steven Tekulsky issued a protection order, preventing him from contacting the celebrity couple. He appeared disoriented in court, leading to a recommendation for evaluation at Stony Brook University Hospital’s mental health facility.
Detective Sergeant Jennifer Dunn mentioned that the investigation of Webster’s motive is ongoing, noting that he lacks a criminal record. Uncertainty remains whether Beyoncé and Jay-Z were present during the incident. The couple has not commented on the situation.
