Discussion on Political Developments and Arizona’s Elections

On July 20, 2026, a significant political discussion took place on PBS News. Tamara Keith from NPR and Jasmine Wright from NOTUS joined Amna Nawaz to explore current political events. A key focus was the primary elections in Arizona, where Republican candidates are vying for a chance to oppose the current Democratic governor.

In another notable development, Troy Jackson seems likely to secure the Democratic nomination for the Senate. This follows Graham Platner’s decision to leave the race. Additionally, the conversation touched on the consequences of former President Trump’s speech concerning election security and its impact on the political landscape.

“These elections are pivotal, setting the stage for substantial political battles in the coming months,” Jasmine Wright noted during the discussion.

Amna Nawaz, who co-anchors and co-manages PBS NewsHour, facilitated this engaging dialogue. The episode also had contributions from Jonah Anderson, who serves as an Associate Producer at PBS NewsHour.
