Tragic Passing of Former NFL Player Jordan Devey Confirmed as Suicide

A recent death has saddened the sports community. Jordan Devey, a former NFL player and Super Bowl champion, has died by suicide, as confirmed by his family. Devey was part of the New England Patriots team that won Super Bowl XLIX.

Devey’s family shared their shock and grief in a message posted on a GoFundMe page. They described the challenge of navigating this tragic and heartbreaking time.

“He was a cherished member of the Eagle community, known for his unwavering dedication to serving others,” the message read.

Jordan Devey had recently been contributing as a coach at Eagle High School in Idaho. He was known for his devotion to his family and community. As a husband to Linsey and a father to four children, Devey spent significant time volunteering as a coach, both for his children and at Eagle High School. He was deeply respected by the players who viewed him as a mentor, role model, and friend. His community contributions extended beyond sports. He was active in his church, providing support and friendship to those in need.

Although the date of his death remains unknown, Devey’s wife, Linsey, shared her memories on what marked their 15th wedding anniversary. “We have filled the walls of our homes and hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles, and triumphs. We brought four beautiful children into this world… You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence,” she expressed in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Devey’s NFL journey began after playing at Memphis, initially joining the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad. He was later recruited by the New England Patriots in 2014, where he started six games and achieved Super Bowl victory. His career included time with teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, and the Buffalo Bills. Remarkably, Devey started 21 out of his 44 games in the league.

It’s notable that Devey remains the only player in NFL history to have blocked for prominent quarterbacks Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen.
