Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, the trailblazing undisputed super middleweight champion, has left an indelible mark on boxing. Debuting as a world champion at the young age of 20, Álvarez, now 36, reflects on his career and future plans in an exclusive interview with “CBS Mornings.”
Álvarez candidly shares how he will know it’s time to retire from the sport. “When I’m at the gym and my body doesn’t respond well to taking punches, that’s when I’ll know,” he explained. “I won’t continue to fight with those training conditions. In camp, everything becomes clear.”
With a record boasting over 60 victories and championships in four divisions, Álvarez acknowledges feeling “good” yet believes he has achieved nearly all he set out to do in boxing. “I have other goals to pursue outside of the ring,” Álvarez admitted.
