Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has shared an update on her health after revealing her cancer diagnosis six months ago. The reality TV star underwent a hysterectomy following her diagnosis of cervical cancer.

In a heartfelt Instagram video, Polizzi, 38, documented her hospital experience, including preparations for surgery. She candidly described her struggle with pain due to the surgical procedure, which involved removing her uterus, cervix, and other parts to ensure a thorough removal of cancerous cells. While her ovaries were preserved to prevent premature menopause, she expressed the difficulty of this ordeal.

“I’m not good with pain,” Polizzi admitted. “We did that C-section cut…so that was crazy. The fallopian tubes, all of it.”

Polizzi previously hinted at this surgery when she first shared her cancer diagnosis. She expressed anxiety leading up to the procedure and felt “nervous and anxious” as she got checked in.

In the video, she described the pre-surgery process, including being hooked up to machines and having iodine applied to her nose. She experienced anxiety and feared the unknown as she prepared for surgery. Polizzi also candidly expressed the emotions she felt, including fear and vulnerability.

Despite the anxiety, Polizzi credited the medical staff’s support in easing her worries. She shared a lighter moment when she humorously attempted to hold out longer under anesthesia than most patients, managing to count to ten.

Aside from the hysterectomy, Polizzi disclosed that she also received treatment for diastasis recti, a condition affecting the abdominal muscles often experienced post-pregnancy.

Opening up about her health journey, Polizzi explained her motivation to share her story: to offer support to women facing similar challenges. She encouraged others by providing a platform for discussion and reassuring them that it’s okay to feel scared.

“It’s scary…we women deal with it,” Polizzi stated. “So I’m here to give that platform.”

She advised her followers to manage post-surgical pain effectively, assuring them they would feel better in time. Polizzi highlighted optimism for a cancer-free future and urged followers to keep up with regular health screenings like Pap smears.

Polizzi originally confirmed her Stage 1 cervical cancer diagnosis in February. Her decision to undergo a hysterectomy was part of her plan to address the cancer.
