Vincent Pastore, recognized for his roles as mobsters and tough characters, passed away at the age of 80. An acclaimed actor, he gained fame for his portrayal of Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero in the popular series “The Sopranos.” This remarkable career involved his participation in 30 episodes, where he played the character who becomes an FBI informant, intertwined with Tony Soprano’s narrative.
News of his passing was confirmed by Bob McGowan, who managed Pastore since his tenure on “The Sopranos.” McGowan was informed of the actor’s untimely death on Saturday by Vincent Curatola, another cast member from the series. Pastore was found in his City Island home in New York, raising concern after he had not been heard from for several days.
“He was the most loyal client and he always gave to charity,” McGowan shared, highlighting Pastore’s generosity and willingness to help others.
Pastore’s career extended to numerous films from the 1980s onward. His distinctive presence was seen in notable movies like “Goodfellas” and “Awakenings” in 1990.
Born in the Bronx, he spent his early years in New Rochelle, New York. Vincent Pastore enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War and pursued education at Pace University, demonstrating a diverse background and commitment to service.
Family played an essential role in his life, leaving behind his daughter, Renee Pastore, as part of his legacy.
