A shooting at an In-N-Out Burger in southern Idaho resulted in three deaths and seven injuries, as reported by Twin Falls city spokesperson Josh Palmer. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon.
Police found the suspected gunman’s body near the restaurant. It is unclear whether the suspect is among the deceased reported. Authorities are in the process of notifying the victims’ families before releasing details about their identities.
Several injured individuals remain in critical condition. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks stated that authorities are still identifying the attacker and their motive. The threat to the community is believed to have ended, though the scene was chaotic.
“Creemos que la amenaza para la comunidad ha terminado”,stated Hicks.
Investigators continue to interview witnesses. The restaurant is in a busy commercial area, with hundreds present at the time of the shooting at 2 p.m.
Lane Koehn, a 34-year-old eyewitness, described seeing an individual with an AR-style rifle exiting the drive-thru. A man with a handgun then engaged the shooter. Koehn and another person assisted an injured In-N-Out employee bleeding from a gunshot wound to the chest until paramedics arrived.
Police instructed Koehn to evacuate as the situation was still active. The attacker reportedly fired three to four times, with no clear target.
A video recorded by a driver across the street showed the shooter wearing black. The individual approached a white car, opening the driver-side door and trunk. The videographer quickly left, fearing the individual might retrieve more weapons.
Haley Dodaro, another witness, was with her mother at the restaurant. While waiting in the drive-thru, they noticed people running and were informed by an official with a reflective vest of a shooting. The situation was frightening, according to Dodaro.
Nayeli Rodriguez, visiting from Burley with her daughters, heard shots from the kitchen. An employee urged them to take cover. A man attempted to shield them, and they were among the last to exit the restaurant.
The In-N-Out location opened on July 24 as part of the company’s expansion in Idaho. Nearby, several individuals were transported to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center, where authorities coordinated with the hospital during the ongoing situation.
Twin Falls is a city with approximately 56,000 residents, located 205 kilometers southeast of Boise and 120 kilometers north of the Nevada border.
