Josh Allen: A Quarterback’s Rise in the NFL

Josh Allen is a prominent American athlete, serving as the starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL). He is recognized for his fierce competitiveness among quarterbacks in the league. Over his career, Allen has set an NFL record and received numerous accolades for his outstanding on-field performances.

Allen’s journey with the Bills began when he was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Initially, during his rookie season, he served as a backup to the starter, Nathan Peterman. However, by the second game of the 2018 season, Peterman was benched, paving the way for Allen to become the starting quarterback.

Though Allen showed promise during his first two seasons, wider recognition came in the 2020 season. That year, he led the Bills to their first playoff victory in 25 years. Additionally, the team secured a division title, their first since 1995.

Before entering the NFL, Allen had a notable college football career. In 2014, he played for Reedley College before transferring to the University of Wyoming’s football program in 2015. By the end of the 2017 season, Allen had thrown for 1,812 yards, achieved 16 touchdowns, and had six interceptions.

In 2020, Allen achieved records for the Bills in both single-season passing yards and touchdowns. That year, he received the Pro Bowl award and second-team All-Pro honors. The following year, he led the Bills to a consecutive division title, a feat not accomplished in 40 years.

Despite only several years in the NFL, Allen has surpassed 17,000 passing yards and approached 3,000 rushing yards, maintaining a completion rate of 62.6%. During the 2021 season, he set an NFL record for the highest passer rating in a single postseason.
