The Dallas Wings, a professional basketball team, will relocate full-time to downtown Dallas for all home games next season. They will share the arena with the NBA’s Mavericks. This move is eagerly anticipated, though staying at the 20,000-seat American Airlines Center is believed to be a short-term arrangement.
The franchise signed a 15-year use agreement with Dallas in 2024. The plan includes playing in a renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium, which will seat about 10,000. However, construction delays have postponed the transition to this new venue, located just a few blocks from the current arena.
“Today’s announcement marks a pivotal step in the team’s relocation to Dallas as well as our continued growth as a professional sports enterprise,” said Dallas Wings CEO and managing partner Greg Bibb.
In addition, the Wings are expected to move next April into a newly constructed $55 million training facility situated in a Dallas neighborhood. Since their move to North Texas in 2016, the team has been playing and practicing at the College Park Center on the University of Texas at Arlington campus. This facility has a capacity of 6,251 seats and is approximately 20 miles from downtown Dallas.
The Wings already have experience at AAC. They hosted two regular-season games there in 2025, securing a win against the Chicago Sky in a recent match. Two more home games are still scheduled there this season.
