The recent tragic death of 12-year-old Jacob Freytes in New York City has intensified the examination of the city’s crime policies. Jacob was killed by a stray bullet in the Bronx, leaving his family seeking justice and calling for tougher crime laws. His mother, Migdalia Martinez, and sister, Angelica Coriano, voiced their concerns on ‘Fox & Friends’. They criticized the suspect’s long history of arrests, arguing that career criminals feel safer now than ever.

In a separate incident, a Florida man named Ruben Altidore is accused of attacking his sister with a machete while she slept next to her 1-year-old daughter. This occurred in Margate, about 40 miles north of Miami. According to the arrest report, Altidore shouted, “Oh my God, why aren’t you dead yet?” as he attempted to kill her. Despite the brutal attack, the sister survived, sustaining severe injuries. These injuries included a deep wound on her thigh, severe cuts to her hands with possible finger amputations, and other injuries.

The child, though covered in blood, was not injured. The victim managed to escape and sought help from neighbors. Her screams were captured on surveillance video. Witnesses, including a cousin and a neighbor, confirmed details of the attack. Investigators found evidence of blood throughout the home and discovered a machete with red stains.

Ruben Altidore was arrested and faces charges including attempted felony murder, aggravated child abuse, and probation violation. He remains held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail. The reason for the attack is still unknown.
