Rookie quarterback Haynes King began the NFL preseason with an exciting last-play victory. He scored from 5 yards out, securing the Carolina Panthers a 33-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game.
King, a former Georgia Tech standout, achieved 180 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also added 39 rushing yards to his performance.
On the Cardinals’ side, rookie quarterback Carson Beck impressed during his exhibition debut. Beck, drafted from Miami in the third round, finished the game with 188 passing yards and one touchdown.

Later, Kedon Slovis put the Cardinals in the lead with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Green, leaving them ahead 30-27 with less than two minutes to go.
King responded by rallying the Panthers. The team chose to rest their starters, so players like Bryce Young supported King from the sidelines. King’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Tyus III early in the fourth quarter put Carolina in front, 24-20. Additionally, King connected with Ja’Seem Reed for a touchdown in the second quarter.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 includes notable players like quarterback Drew Brees, running back Roger Craig, kicker Adam Vinatieri, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and linebacker Luke Kuechly.
