A man in North Carolina, named Di-Quan Schafar Hunt, is facing new charges after an incident on a Charlotte sidewalk. He allegedly punched a woman and posted a video of the attack on social media. Records from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office indicate Hunt has been arrested at least nine times since 2023.
The recent arrest occurred on Thursday following a call to locate Hunt. Police were shown a social media account with videos under investigation. One particular video appeared to be connected to an assault reported on July 30 in the Providence Division on East Boulevard. In the video, a suspect reportedly punched a woman on a sidewalk and then fled the scene.
The injured woman was treated at a local hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Following Hunt’s arrest, he was taken to a medical facility for treatment. After his release, authorities plan to transfer him to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where he will face an assault charge with a deadly weapon.
Fox News Digital reviewed additional videos from the social media account. One video appeared to show a woman being pursued until she sought refuge behind a vehicle. Another video showed a confrontation, followed by the sound of a punch, and later, a woman on the ground who was seemingly taunted and struck again.
The connection of these videos to the July 30 assault has not been confirmed, nor have the identities of the women involved been disclosed. The detectives continue to investigate the other videos as possible crimes, and the police department’s investigation remains active. Hunt’s arrest record from Mecklenburg County includes recent charges as of December 2025, consisting of assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats, second-degree trespass, and carrying concealed weapons. In 2024, offenses involved violating a domestic-violence protective order, breaking or entering, and damage to property. Additionally, Hunt faces a charge of malicious conduct by a prisoner and resisting an officer, as documented in felony records. However, the outcomes of these cases remain unspecified.
The Mecklenburg County records also state that charges are not equivalent to convictions. Hunt’s extensive legal history, including multiple arrests and misdemeanor convictions, continues to spotlight ongoing public safety concerns in the community.
