Germany Faces Growing Concern Over Low-Cost Drone Threats

Germany is increasingly worried about potential attacks from low-cost drones. An initial assessment suggests that a drone, which may have belonged to Russia, poses a threat, according to a Western official and a U.S. source speaking to NBC News.

On August 5, a forensic technician worked with a bomb-disposal robot at Leipzig/Halle Airport located in Schkeuditz, Germany. This action followed a foiled exploding drone attack earlier in the week. This particular airport is known for housing Ukrainian cargo planes.

Officials have emphasized that this incident highlights a ‘new quality of danger.’ Low-cost drones challenge existing security measures and may be difficult to defend against effectively.
