A training session between the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in New Jersey faced an unexpected halt due to a medical emergency involving a Jets player. Cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers was carried off the field at the Florham Park facility, requiring ambulance assistance.
ESPN reported that Stiggers received an IV while on the turf. New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn mentioned that Stiggers had come to the bench and “passed out” but was later conscious. Glenn acknowledged the efficient response by the medical staff. He assured that Stiggers was “able to talk” and is “for the most part…good.”
The daytime temperatures in Florham Park hit 85 degrees and approached triple-digits over the weekend. This was amidst an eventful practice that saw at least three fights erupt, one involving Stiggers.
Stiggers opted to play in the Fan Controlled League straight out of high school rather than attending college. He eventually played for the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL). The New York Jets drafted Stiggers in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He participated in 15 games last season, achieving a rare feat, being the first player since 1999 to transition directly from the CFL to the NFL. During the season, he recorded 27 tackles and recovered two fumbles.
