Kelsey Mitchell scored 28 points, with 20 in the first half, as the Indiana Fever defeated the New York Liberty 106-92 on Tuesday night. Caitlin Clark contributed 22 points and 10 assists. This win marks Indiana’s seventh victory in their last nine games.
Coach Stephanie White inspired her team with a passionate pregame speech. The Fever responded with impressive shooting, achieving 59% from the field and 79% from three-point range. They led 64-46 at halftime, making a strong statement against New York, who had been 8-1 since their previous loss to Indiana in July.
Mitchell made 11 of 16 field goals and, along with Clark and Sophie Cunningham, hit four 3-pointers each. Indiana made 16 out of 25 three-point attempts. Cunningham added 12 points while Aliyah Boston scored 19 points with seven rebounds. For the Liberty, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu scored 19 points each, and Jonquel Jones added 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Indiana seized control with a 15-7 run late in the second quarter, extending their lead to 54-37. Despite a third-quarter comeback attempt by New York, narrowing the deficit to 66-57, Indiana regained momentum. Mitchell’s three-point play and Cunningham’s late three-pointer secured a 87-67 lead at the end of the third quarter. Indiana maintained their lead, preventing any close calls in the final minutes.
