Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently addressed questions about her awareness of former President Joe Biden’s decline. She asserted she had no prior knowledge of any such occurrences. In an interaction with Politico’s Jonathan Martin, Pelosi stated, “I didn’t know, but I do think that those who did know should have acted upon that information, whatever that means.” Pelosi emphasized the contrast between staff claims and family claims regarding Biden’s condition, noting the need for decisive action.
The conversation between Pelosi and Martin also touched on Pelosi’s previous suggestions to Biden about his campaign. Pelosi denied asking Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race. Instead, she questioned the accuracy of Biden’s polling and the direction of his campaign. “I only said to President Biden, ‘I’ve come to question the polling that you have and how your campaign is being conducted,'” she explained.
In regards to Biden’s response, Pelosi shared that Biden mentioned being tested daily through his role. She expressed the public’s desire for more concrete reassurances regarding his capacity to serve another term.
Political analyst Guy Benson later criticized Pelosi’s statements, describing them as “non-credible gaslighting.” Benson argued that many witnessed Biden’s decline and accused Pelosi of participating in efforts to conceal this reality until political circumstances changed.
Pelosi appeared on MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” in July 2024, suggesting Biden’s decision on running for presidency remained undecided. She urged for a timely decision due to increasing time constraints.
Biden’s office has not commented on these discussions, leaving media and political figures to speculate on the situation’s development.
