Tyrese Haliburton is eager to get back on the court after missing last season due to a torn right Achilles tendon sustained during the 2025 NBA Finals. The Indiana Pacers All-Star addressed reporters, confirming his full clearance to return. Haliburton expressed no worries about playing as the regular season starts in October.
“I saw a report that said ‘sources telling me Tyrese will be healthy.’ I’m the source, so I can tell you: I’m healthy right now,” Haliburton joked during his media session.
He shared that he feels great and is able to play pickup games regularly. He emphasized his readiness, stating, “If the season was today, I’d be ready.”
As Haliburton rejoins practice sessions with his team, he will collaborate with new veteran teammates. The Pacers signed free-agent wing Kelly Oubre Jr. to a two-year, $16.5 million contract and added veteran forward Larry Nance Jr. Haliburton expressed enthusiasm about these additions.
“Kelly’s a guy I got to know from working with Drew Hanlan in the summer. We’ve had a few workouts and lifted together. He’s been a challenging opponent, so I’m excited for him to be on our side,” remarked Haliburton.
Haliburton noted that Oubre will contribute significantly on “both sides of the ball,” particularly in defense. With a league and conference that is “very wing heavy,” Oubre’s defensive skills will be advantageous against teams like the Philadelphia 76ers.
Regarding Nance, Haliburton highlighted the importance of his veteran presence in bolstering frontcourt depth. The Pacers also strengthened their team by drafting Purdue playmaker Braden Smith after trading with the Chicago Bulls for the No. 38 pick.
Haliburton previously eliminated the New York Knicks from the NBA Playoffs in 2025 before his Achilles injury in the Finals. With the Knicks winning the championship in his absence, he is motivated to lead his team to success in the Eastern Conference.
Facing tough competition like the revamped 76ers featuring LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, as well as the Miami Heat with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Haliburton’s big play ability will be crucial.
