A 20-year-old hiker died in a tragic accident at Silver Falls State Park, Oregon. He fell from a 177-foot waterfall on Monday. This unfortunate event highlights the risks of deviating from designated trails.
The young man, an out-of-state visitor, attempted to reach a spot for a photo opportunity. He crossed a barrier at the upper viewpoint of South Falls, which is the park’s tallest waterfall.
This location draws many visitors due to its natural beauty and the iconic Trail of Ten Falls. Unfortunately, the hiker’s off-trail venture ended disastrously at around 6:30 p.m. when he plummeted into the pool below.
Bystanders tried to assist, performing CPR until emergency responders arrived. Despite their efforts, the victim was declared dead at the scene. His identity remains undisclosed.
