Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s Dance Video Sparks Social Media Criticism

Social media users are buzzing over a viral clip of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey dancing at the Black Entrepreneur State Fair. The video, widely shared on platforms, shows Frey awkwardly dancing to hip-hop music.

Many online, especially conservative commentators, labeled the mayor’s moves as ‘cringe.’ Commentator Benny Johnson criticized Frey, recalling another instance where Frey awkwardly reacted to Somali food, describing him as a ‘walking humiliation ritual.’

The world is full of white liberals willing to play the fool,” wrote a user.

Attending the fair, held from August 9-15 at Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis, Frey attempted to engage with attendees. Conservative commentator Emily Jashinsky joked about preferring defunding the police over watching the dance.

Commentary from Ian Miller suggested Democrats, like Frey, who engage in theatrical acts, lack real talent. Mario Nawfal, an X host, mocked Frey for dancing despite issues the city faces, mentioning fraud and disarray in Minneapolis.

Frey’s dance video joins a series of viral moments featuring Democrats attempting to connect with voters through lighthearted performances. Similarly, Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed faced criticism after a campaign video mimicking the children’s show “Blue’s Clues” gained attention.

In this campaign video, El-Sayed wore a green-striped shirt similar to the show’s host, parodying “Mail Time” to explain voting procedures. Critics labeled it ‘cringeworthy,’ reflecting a dislike for such political theatrics.
