The Department of Justice has initiated an inquiry into New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. This investigation follows reports of alleged discriminatory treatment of Jewish residents. Fox News national correspondent CB Cotton highlighted growing worries about antisemitism in New York City through a DOJ letter seeking clarification.
In a related matter, the Department of Homeland Security is examining a nonprofit linked to Mayor Mamdani. This organization is believed to be channeling donations to a sanctioned Palestinian group, as reported by the New York Post.
The federal investigation focuses on a U.K.-based organization identified as PFF. It possesses a substantial $100 million fund for supporting anti-Israel causes. Authorities suggest it may be directing funds to Al-Haq, a U.S.-sanctioned Palestinian group.
One source disclosed to the Post that a new fund established by Arabs in the US, UK, and Australia aims to confront Israel. Bassema Yousef, described as a pivotal figure in the PFF’s fundraising activities, is a prominent Democratic donor and a close ally of Mamdani.
Yousef, born in New York but now residing in London, has a notable social media presence with statements accusing Israel of committing war crimes with U.S. tax money.
According to the Post, Yousef established the PFF with support from two affluent donors: Basil Qunibi, an investing executive based in Austin, Texas, and Yasser Shahin, a motorsports magnate from Palestine and Australia. Corporate records in the U.K. validate Shahin’s involvement with the PFF.
The IRS confirmed that the PFF has an associated nonprofit entity in Delaware. The PFF has a strategic mission to finance anti-Israel narratives and bolster pro-Palestinian activists.
Despite these reports, the Department of Homeland Security has not commented on this investigation or its specific methods, maintaining confidentiality about its operations. The Post elaborated that the existence of DHS’s investigation is not indicative of criminal activity.
