In the early hours of Tuesday, Ukraine launched a significant drone offensive targeting Moscow. Russian authorities reported that over 600 drones were directed toward the Russian capital.
Between Monday evening and 5 a.m. local time on Tuesday, 620 drones were identified flying toward the wider Moscow area, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. About 180 of these drones were neutralized near Moscow, Sobyanin stated. In addition, the regional governor, Andrey Vorobyov, confirmed that more than 150 drones were downed around the capital.
The attack, characterized as the largest in the last two years, was highlighted by Russia’s Tass state news agency. Ukraine has been using long-range drones to continually target Moscow, aiming to emphasize the ongoing impact of nearly four-and-a-half years of war to the Russian populace.
The Russian online retailer Wildberries, comparable to Amazon, announced that debris from the drone assault caused minor damage to a logistics site in the Moscow region. The debris impacted the facility’s wall.
Russia’s defense ministry reported intercepting 791 drones overnight across 15 Russian regions. The interceptions also occurred over the annexed Crimean peninsula and the Azov and Black Seas.
This overall Ukrainian drone operation is among the most extensive on Russian territory this year, according to Tass reports.
