Tribute to Hayden Panettiere from Wladimir Klitschko Following Her Tragic Death

On August 18, 2026, Wladimir Klitschko, the former partner of actress Hayden Panettiere, expressed deep sorrow over her passing. In a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, he described it as a time of profound shock and grief for their family.

Klitschko, a Ukrainian boxer and brother to Kyiv’s mayor, shared his condolences while honoring her memory. ‘The news of Hayden’s tragic death saddens me deeply. She left us far too soon,’ he wrote. Despite their separation, Klitschko acknowledged Panettiere’s significant role in his life as the mother of their daughter, Kaya.

Accompanying his tribute was an image capturing a joyful Kaya sitting on her mother’s shoulders. Klitschko praised Panettiere’s career, noting her remarkable talent and resilience in face of the demanding entertainment industry. ‘Nothing will erase the times we shared,’ he stated, promising to always speak of Panettiere with respect to their daughter.

‘I extend my deepest condolences to Hayden’s parents, her friends, and her fans, who are also grieving today. Young and talented people like Hayden should not leave this world so soon,’ Klitschko wrote.

Hayden Panettiere passed away at 36, on Sunday. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reported the cause of death is pending further investigation. An autopsy conducted revealed no signs of trauma that would have contributed to her death.

A 911 call about a reported cardiac arrest at an apartment complex was made by an acquaintance, though their identity was not disclosed. Police stated there were no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances surrounding her demise.

Panettiere was renowned for television roles in ‘Heroes’ and ‘Nashville’ and had recently published the memoir ‘This Is Me: A Reckoning,’ stirring public interest due to its candid revelations, including her experiences with postpartum depression and addiction.

The actress previously opened up about relinquishing custody of her daughter Kaya Evdokia Klitschko in 2018 due to her struggles. In a poignant interview on the ‘Jay Shetty Podcast,’ she spoke of always wanting to be a mother and the emotional impact of postpartum depression on her life.

Despite giving up custody, Panettiere maintained a close bond with her daughter, sharing her longing to hold her close, yet acknowledging life’s current circumstances. Klitschko and Panettiere had announced their engagement in 2013, with their daughter’s birth in 2014 marking a pivotal point in her personal challenges.

Panettiere entered rehab and reluctantly signed over custody of Kaya when she was nearly three, as detailed in her memoir. By 2018, her engagement with Klitschko had ended, leaving unresolved feelings amid anxiety and depression.

She developed a co-parenting relationship with Klitschko, visiting Kaya in Ukraine and maintaining contact through video calls.
