Sullivan and Republican supporters accuse teacher Sullivan of running to divert votes. Dan J. Sullivan rebuts this, stating he is a legitimate moderate Republican contender.

Ex-Mayor Dan A. Sullivan expressed on social media, urging voters to support Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, citing his positive impact on Alaska. Republicans have pushed to remove Dan J. Sullivan from the ballot, suggesting his collaboration with a Democratic consultant points to a liberal agenda aimed at voter confusion. The teacher Sullivan contends that his campaign is a valid moderate Republican challenge against the sitting senator.
Alaska’s Complex Electoral System
Alaska’s electoral system, including a nonpartisan primary and ranked-choice voting, might further confound voters. The top four candidates progress to the general election irrespective of party affiliation. Ranked-choice voting allows voters to prioritize candidates, redistributing votes when their top choice gets eliminated.
