John “Jed” York, the principal owner and CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, faced legal issues in Ohio over the weekend. York, who pleaded no contest on Monday, was charged with misdemeanors including disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.
The incident took place in East Palestine, a town near the Pennsylvania border. While York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution, court records indicate that prosecutors modified this to a disorderly conduct charge.
York has deep ties to the area, having graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School. He posted a $5,000 bond following his arrest, authorities reported.
An East Palestine Police report obtained by Nexstar’s WKBN revealed that York’s arrest involved assistance from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
Court documents revealed York received a sentence of two concurrent days in Columbiana County Jail. He was granted credit for one day already served. Additionally, the court fined him $1,150, and authorities confiscated $160 to forfeit to the task force as part of the settlement.
York applied for expungement to clear the incident from his record, based on court documents.
York’s career with the 49ers began when he became team president in 2008. The organization had not commented on his arrest as of Monday morning. The NFL announced their intention to assess the situation under their personal conduct policy, as reported by Nexstar’s WKBN. WKBN reached out to both the team and York’s attorney for remarks.
