Federal Agents Search Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Residence

Federal agents searched the home of Representative Ilhan Omar in Washington, D.C., on Monday morning. The Department of Justice stated to NPR that agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant that had been judicially approved. This action is part of an active federal investigation. Authorities have not disclosed additional details about the investigation.

Rep. Omar expressed criticism of the search on her social media platforms. She stated, “Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. I will not be silenced.”

Several Homeland Security Investigations agents were observed around Omar’s home on Monday. According to Jackie Rogers, spokesperson for Omar, the search was described as a “raid,” labeling it an “outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies.”

Sharon Jackson, a 79-year-old resident living opposite Omar’s home, said that the agents woke her around 4:30 a.m. She reported, “I got awakened by boom, boom, boom. They were out here with a great big truck.”

This search occurred ahead of the midterm elections next month, where Omar is running for reelection. Vice President Vance has previously accused Omar of committing immigration fraud, an allegation she denies.
