Oklahoma Democrats Decide U.S. Senate Nominee

On Tuesday, Oklahoma Democrats vote to select their U.S. Senate nominee. The choice is between N’Kiyla Jasmine Thomas, a nurse, and Jim Priest, an attorney.

Both candidates emerged as leaders in a five-way Democratic primary conducted in June. Thomas gained the highest support, obtaining slightly over 45% of the votes. However, she fell short of achieving the majority necessary to avoid a runoff. Priest followed with just under 24% of the votes.

The winner of this runoff will challenge Rep. Kevin Hern, a Republican, in the November elections. The outcome of this contest could impact the political landscape, attracting significant attention from both parties.

The final decision reflects Oklahoma Democrats’ priorities and will determine who represents the party in the upcoming crucial race.
