Plane Crash in Seldovia, Alaska Claims Four Lives

State authorities reported that a small plane crash near Seldovia, Alaska, resulted in the deaths of four individuals on Wednesday.

The Piper PA-24 aircraft took off from Anchorage and was nearing the Seldovia airport when it crashed in the Seldovia Slough area, close to the shoreline. The aircraft ended up submerged in approximately 15 feet of water. This situation delayed Alaska State Troopers and other emergency responders, as they had to wait for the tide to go out to access the wreckage.

Rescue teams recovered all four occupants from the aircraft, who were later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released their identities as they are still notifying their families.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Notably, this marks the second fatal aviation accident in Alaska within a week.

This is an ongoing situation. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
