Jason Dohring, known for his role as Logan Echolls on “Veronica Mars,” has temporarily left acting to pursue farming. He shared this decision during an appearance on the “Don’t Do Nothing” podcast. Dohring, 44, expressed that he developed a passion for gardening about four years ago, telling his agents, “I’m just going to go farm for a minute.”
Over the last few years, Dohring has built three farms. He started planting in Los Angeles and soon expanded to a 14-acre farm in West Virginia. There, he and his team planted 4,000 trees, including apples, cherries, pears, peaches, and nectarines. He proudly mentioned, “I probably planted 3,500 of them myself.”
“People are getting sick from the food that they’re eating,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of producing healthy food.
Currently, Dohring resides with his wife, Lauren Kutner, and their four children on an 11-acre farm in Florida. He moved to Florida due to its favorable weather conditions. Reflecting on California farming challenges, he noted, “L.A. is crazy. [You can go] eight, nine months with no rain.” In contrast, Florida offers abundant rain and resources, which he appreciates.
Dohring practices regenerative farming on his Florida farm, avoiding chemical usage. His efforts have received positive feedback, including from an experienced agriculturalist who was impressed with the farm’s condition, saying, “I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
Despite focusing on farming, Dohring plans to return to acting eventually. He recently participated in a short film for a friend. “I love art, and when I get around art, even talking about this is exciting to me,” he said, highlighting his ongoing connection to the creative world.
Dohring and Kutner, who married in 2004, met in high school and built their relationship on friendship. Reflecting on their marriage, Dohring shared in an Instagram post, “We have had an amazing life together, including raising four incredible children. I consider her my best friend.”
