The alleged suspect in a downtown Minneapolis apartment building shooting was reportedly facing eviction for threatening other residents with a firearm. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in three fatalities, including the suspect, and five others were injured. Among the wounded were three Minneapolis police officers.
Authorities have not officially disclosed the shooter’s name. However, local news stations KTSP and Fox 9 reported witness accounts and unnamed sources identifying the suspect as Carlton Johnson II.
Court records acquired by KTSP reveal that Johnson was amid eviction proceedings from a 9th-floor unit in the apartment complex. A hearing related to his eviction was set for September 11.
The management company of the Loring Tower building had filed a complaint stating Johnson’s lease was meant to be terminated in June. The complaint alleged that he assaulted another resident, openly displayed a gun, and issued death threats.
