A Batavia chiropractor, David Hanson, has pleaded guilty to charges related to child sexual abuse material. Hanson secretly recorded over 180 patients, including children, capturing them nude or partially clothed. He is guilty of producing and distributing material involving children under 13.
Victims spoke out at a news conference outside the Kane County Judicial Center. Jenna, a patient who visited Hanson with her daughter for three years, expressed how their trust was violated. She emphasized how every patient deserves privacy and dignity from medical professionals.
Victims suing Hanson requested anonymity, fearing further violation. Jenna highlighted the emotional toll on parents explaining the gravity of the situation to their children. Another victim shared lingering anxiety about being recorded without consent, affecting visits to doctors and fitting rooms.
Hanson faces 76 counts, including child sexual abuse material crimes and unauthorized video recording. Authorities detailed how recordings were made in rooms at his clinic using hidden cameras. Videos were shared via apps like Session, SimpleX, and Discord. His activities were uncovered following a tip to Batavia police in September 2025.
Investigators found hidden cameras in vents and fans during the search. Indications suggest that video recordings date back to 2016, with the most recent captured on November 5, 2025, the day of his arrest. Hanson operated from Hanson Family Chiropractic at 1928 W. Wilson St. in Batavia.
Attorney Elizabeth Fegan suspects Hanson sold videos, potentially prompting further legal actions against payment processors and banks. Property owners are being sued due to their access to clinic vents. Attorney Grant Dixon commended prosecutors but warned that the number of victims could be much higher.
Licensed as a chiropractor since 2013, Hanson’s license is suspended pending the outcome of his case. Facing 12 to 60 years in prison, Hanson’s sentencing is scheduled for November 10. His sentence could increase if deemed eligible for extended-term sentencing, and he will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
