Sara Duterte, impeached last May by the House of Representatives over similar charges and alleged financial misconduct, is embroiled in a political rivalry with Marcos. Her lawyer, Paul Lawrence Lim, stated she intends to post bail to avoid detention while pursuing legal remedies through the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
She has no intention of evading the law and will continue to exercise all her legal remedies.
This legal battle may impact Duterte’s plan to run for president in 2028. Her previous alliance with Marcos in the 2022 elections deteriorated, leading to their current political discord.
