Talarico’s interview will instead be available on YouTube. Kimmel accused President Donald Trump’s FCC of threatening him, his show, ABC, and its affiliates over editorial decisions and guest bookings that seemed disapproved by the authorities. He expressed concern that airing Talarico’s interview might lead to threats against ABC station licenses.
“Out of consideration for our local stations, especially our ABC affiliates in Texas who would have to deal with this nonsense, my interview tomorrow with James Talarico will not air on television. It will be posted on YouTube instead,” Kimmel said.
This situation mirrors a recent instance when Stephen Colbert announced CBS’s hesitance to air an interview with Talarico on The Late Show over FCC’s “equal time” rules. Consequently, Colbert shared the interview on YouTube, with CBS later denying any restriction on broadcasting. Kimmel pointed out the nervousness among Republicans about the upcoming November midterm elections, voicing their potential loss of a Senate seat in Texas.
Current polls indicate Talarico leads slightly over his Republican rival, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, providing Democrats with a solid chance to win a Senate seat in Republican-dominated Texas. This race may prove essential as Republicans strive to maintain their majority, and Democrats need four more seats to seize control of the Senate.

“And thank goodness we have that, because in the America we live in right now, that is the best that we can do until November, of course. Make sure you’re registered to vote, by the way, because that’s the most important thing you can do,” Kimmel stated.
