Trespasser Attempts to Enter Kamala Harris’ Malibu Home

On Friday evening, a trespasser attempted to access the Malibu residence of former Vice President Kamala Harris, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and a Harris spokesperson. At the time of the incident, Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not present, confirmed Eduardo Negrón, a representative for Harris. Negrón did not specify the couple’s location during the incident.

In an official statement, Negrón stated, “Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home.” He also expressed gratitude for the rapid response of security and law enforcement personnel.

The on-site security at Harris’ residence contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which oversees the Malibu area. Lt. Jason Duron, watch commander at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station, mentioned that the department was alerted by Harris’ security team when a woman reached the former Vice President’s front door. Sheriff’s deputies arrived around 10:30 p.m., and the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, voluntarily agreed to leave the property. She was not apprehended.

We are stepping up patrols of the property to be safe, stated Lt. Duron.

Harris’ security arrangements have undergone evaluation in the past. Usually, former vice presidents receive Secret Service protection for six months after leaving office. However, former President Biden had extended this protection for Harris. This extension was revoked by President Trump in August 2025, prompting local law enforcement to increase their protective measures for Harris. The Los Angeles Police Department stopped their participation due to criticism that the effort interfered with their crime-fighting capabilities.

The present status of the California Highway Patrol’s involvement in Harris’ security remains unclear, as does whether the personnel who contacted the Sheriff’s Department were private security guards.
