Presley Gerber, a model and son of Cindy Crawford, has passed away at 27. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death on Sunday while at a rehab facility. The cause of death remains unconfirmed.
In recent years, Gerber was candid about his challenges with mental health and substance abuse. In March, he posted on Instagram, sharing his journey, “Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose – quiet moment before everything changed.”
“I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, I started finding my way back to myself,” he expressed. “We shall see… Praying it’s the last time I have to come back.”
He used hashtags such as “iboga,” “ibogaine,” “rewire your brain,” “love yourself,” and “mental health.”
Understanding Ibogaine
Ibogaine is a compound derived from the West African shrub, iboga. At low doses, it acts as a mild stimulant. Higher doses often induce deep psychedelic experiences, including hallucinations.
This compound is utilized in treating several health conditions like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Notably, it addresses substance use dependency. Research indicates that it eases withdrawal symptoms and helps reduce cravings.
Ibogaine saw rising interest in the U.S. and Europe during the 1980s. Still, it remains a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
This is a developing story with more updates to come.
