Lane Kiffin’s Return to Ole Miss Ends in Defeat for LSU

Lane Kiffin made a much-discussed return to Oxford’s Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, leading the LSU Tigers against his former team, Ole Miss. On Saturday night, the Ole Miss crowd filled the stadium with remarkable enthusiasm, greeting Kiffin with a rather cold reception.

Under the leadership of Pete Golding, the Rebels secured a 32-24 victory over Kiffin’s Tigers, dazzling the home supporters. The game set a program attendance record, with 70,033 fans present at the stadium.

Following the defeat, Kiffin acknowledged that the intense atmosphere was tough for his team. He compared it to entering a “buzz saw.” He shared with reporters, “The stadium was full an hour early. So, I guess I had to leave to get them to do that. You’re welcome.”

Lane Kiffin departed from Ole Miss, leaving an 11-1 record and the team poised for a College Football Playoff appearance last season to accept the LSU head coaching position. He achieved opening wins against Clemson and Louisiana Tech, but suffered his first defeat in charge of LSU against the Rebels.

Ole Miss remains undefeated with a 3-0 record as they prepare for their upcoming road game against the Florida Gators.
