U.S. and China to Discuss AI Transparency at Washington Summit

The United States and China are set to discuss enhancing transparency in artificial intelligence at a summit in Washington this week. Officials from both nations aim to establish a ‘notification mechanism’ for managing national security incidents related to AI.

On Sunday night, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed these plans. He, along with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, met with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in New York. These talks come ahead of a summit involving President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The goal is to increase collaboration and transparency between the two countries, easing tensions and promoting safer practices in AI development.
