Rahm Emanuel Considers 2028 Presidential Run Amid Growing Democratic Field

In Austin, Texas, former U.S. Ambassador Rahm Emanuel openly discussed his potential candidacy for the 2028 White House race. During an interview with Fox News Digital at the Texas Tribune Festival, Emanuel identified three key qualities that differentiate him from other potential Democratic contenders: candor, authenticity, and strength.

Candor, authenticity, and strength,” Emanuel shared with Fox News Digital.

With a vast political resume, Emanuel has been a significant figure in Democratic politics. He has served as a top advisor for former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, held office as a congressman, acted as the mayor of Chicago, and most recently was the U.S. ambassador to Japan under President Biden. Emanuel emphasized that if elected president, he is well-prepared for the challenges from the outset.

“I know what to do on day one,” he assured. “I will not tell you what is convenient but what is necessary for making the tough decisions ahead. We are at a critical point. Efforts over the past 12 years aiming to restore a bygone era have been futile. It is crucial to consider a future inclusive of everyone. Our nation cannot afford to waste any person or overlook any community,” he stated.

Currently contemplating a 2028 presidential bid, Emanuel acknowledged the difficulties ahead. According to the RealClearPolitics average, he is not presently among the top 10 Democratic contenders. Former Vice President Kamala Harris leads with about 25% average support among Democratic voters. Following her at 14% is California Governor Gavin Newsom, who recently declared he will not run if Harris chooses to enter the race.

Trailing close behind Newsom is former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, with almost 13% support. New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez garners nearly 11%, while Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff stands at around 9%.
