Latino Voter Trends in Upcoming Midterms

Recent polling from NBC News and Telemundo indicates a shift among Latino voters away from President Donald Trump and the Republican Party as midterm elections approach. The survey, conducted from September 21 to 28, involved 800 registered Latino voters in the U.S.

The findings show that 69% of Latino voters disapprove of Trump’s performance, while 27% approve. Additionally, 66% believe Trump’s deportation policies are excessive, and 75% think he has poorly managed the economy and cost of living.

The poll highlights a significant advantage for Democrats among Latino voters, despite some Republican gains in 2024. In terms of congressional control, 59% prefer Democrats, while 35% favor Republicans.

“The GOP has gained support amongst Latino voters, yet challenges remain.”

Democrats lead Latino voters by 12 points as the 2024 elections approach, indicating some loss of previous gains by Trump and the GOP. Notably, GOP support among Latino voters has improved over the past decade, increasing from 21% in 2016 to 26% in 2018.

Poll results, gathered via phone and online surveys with a 3.5% margin of error, underscore a strong Democratic advantage in the upcoming midterm elections. Fox News Power Rankings suggest Democrats are set to win 215 seats in the House of Representatives, compared to the GOP’s 201, with 19 races still up for grabs.

Despite negative poll numbers, Trump argued at a Dayton, Ohio rally that polls fail to account for his influence on elections, asserting strong support and record-setting results alongside his followers.
