Florida TikTok Creator Faces Legal Trouble for Alleged Data Breach

A TikTok creator from Florida, Mark Stephen Asea, is accused of misusing technology to violate women’s privacy. Known for his self-proclaimed titles of ‘demonologist’ and ‘Grey Hat Hacker,’ Asea is currently detained in St. Lucie County Jail on charges related to computer crimes.

He was arrested on September 30 at 36 years old. His initial arrest dates back to April when he faced allegations of stalking and breaches of computer security. Prosecutors initially dropped these charges but revisited the case in September, leading to new charges.

Asea, based in Port St. Lucie, faces a $35,000 bond, as per the county jail records. His actions have raised privacy concerns, especially after he allegedly posted private data of two women on TikTok, claiming access to their devices and accounts.

In the cases against him, one of the complainants had initially asked Asea for help with her computer. Later, she discovered that her private information was featured in his TikTok videos. Allegedly, these posts included extensive personal details like passwords and recent online purchases. She mentioned that access to such information was restricted to a closed group chat, to which Asea had no authorized access.

Another woman reported a similar incident. She sought Asea’s technical assistance, allowing him remote access to her PC. She later realized he placed unauthorized software, enabling him to gather information from her device without consent. A photograph from her private messages ended up being broadcast in his TikTok content.

Asea allegedly went further, claiming in his posts that he could pinpoint her location using her phone’s GPS. This led to multiple TikTok videos targeting her, with some days seeing as many as six video uploads.

His TikTok profile listed various descriptors such as ‘Clairsentient,’ ‘Empath,’ and ‘Grey Hat Hacker.’ Comparatively, his previous biography included ‘former satanist.’

Summer saw Asea face a separate case for civil stalking, resulting in a temporary injunction that was later dismissed by a judge on September 8.

The rise in renewed charges, filed on September 24, cites unauthorized computer or electronic device access. The reasons behind the previously dropped charges remain unclear.

As the legal proceedings continue, Mark Stephen Asea is set for arraignment on November 19 regarding the felony charge.
