Iconic ‘Star Wars’ Props Head to Auction

The legendary lightsaber wielded by Darth Vader during his famous duel with Luke Skywalker in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ will be auctioned in November. This duel in Cloud City, where Vader reveals his paternal connection to Skywalker, remains a pivotal moment in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy. The prop is predicted to attract bids starting at $1 million at the Heritage Auctions’ Ultimate Star Wars Auction on November 12.

Apart from Vader’s lightsaber, the auction will feature over 24 lightsaber props. Among them are lightsabers used by Obi-Wan Kenobi, portrayed by Ewan McGregor, and Anakin Skywalker, played by Hayden Christensen, in ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ Each of these weapons is expected to bring in at least $10,000.

Collectors will also find an EE-3 carbine blaster, which villain Boba Fett used in ‘The Empire Strikes Back.’ The blaster is anticipated to sell for over $100,000. Additionally, a Hero Rebel DH-17 Pistol, utilized by Rebel Alliance troops in the same film, could exceed sales of $10,000.

The auction offers even more unique memorabilia. It includes a puppet hand of Yoda, used by Frank Oz in ‘The Empire Strikes Back,’ and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.’ Another notable item is a signed, personal third-draft screenplay of the 1977 ‘Star Wars,’ belonging to C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels.

A miniature snowspeeder from Carrie Fisher’s private collection used in filming may also fetch over $10,000. This auction follows the recent sale of a lightsaber accompanied by Luke Skywalker’s severed hand, which commanded $3.75 million in July, marking the highest price for a ‘Star Wars’ film prop.
