New York Man Accused of Attempted Murder in Violent Incident

Authorities in Saratoga Springs, New York, have charged a man with attempted murder after allegedly slashing a coworker’s throat. The attack occurred while the coworker was giving him a ride home.

According to the police, the incident was discovered when they responded to a report of a vehicle crash into Augie’s To-Go, an Italian restaurant. Officers found the driver with a severe neck injury unrelated to the crash.

David Cruz Torres, originally from Michoacán, Mexico, was identified as the passenger. He attempted to flee but was quickly detained by police at the scene.

Cruz Torres, aged 36, faces charges of second-degree attempted murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators found that both individuals worked together at a Saratoga Springs establishment. The assault allegedly occurred after their shift when Cruz Torres requested a ride home from his coworker.

As she drove, Cruz Torres reportedly pulled a knife and attacked her. The victim managed to escape the vehicle, which was still in motion, and called out for assistance.

Due to the serious nature of her injuries, the victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
