The Chicago Blackhawks have been missing their superstar center, Connor Bedard, during the 2026-27 season owing to his shoulder surgery over the summer. Recently, signs indicate his return to the NHL’s Original Six club might be imminent.
ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reports that Bedard is likely to be back in the Blackhawks’ lineup for the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.
Bedard’s anticipated return is promising news for the Blackhawks. His presence has been sorely missed this season, as reflected in the team’s 1-5-0 record without their top player. His comeback could be a turning point for Chicago, potentially altering the course of their challenging season.
In the previous season, Bedard made significant contributions to the Blackhawks with 30 goals and 45 assists, totaling 75 points over 69 games. This performance earned him a five-year, $75 million contract extension with the team last July.
Over his three seasons in the NHL with Chicago, Bedard has accumulated 75 goals and 203 points across 219 games. This season also marks his first year as the team’s captain.
