Brewers Near Sweep Against Dodgers with Strong Game 3 Performance

The Milwaukee Brewers took a significant step towards eliminating the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-2 victory in Game 3 at Dodger Stadium. They are now just one win away from sweeping the series and avenging last year’s National League Championship Series (NLCS) loss.

Jackson Chourio set the tone with a leadoff home run off the first pitch from Blake Snell. Robert Gasser maintained the lead by delivering five innings without allowing a run. In the eighth inning, William Contreras contributed with a crucial single, showcasing the Brewers’ ability to maintain their lead.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers, typically a formidable team, struggled to respond. Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman watched from the dugout during a pitching change in the eighth inning, unable to turn the tide in their favor.

The Dodgers briefly went ahead in the sixth inning when Will Smith delivered a two-run double. However, the Brewers responded immediately. Andrew Vaughn drew a walk to kick off the seventh inning, and Jake Bauers followed with a decisive two-run homer. Garrett Mitchell then extended the lead by hitting another home run, making the score 4-2.

In the eighth inning, a wild pitch added to Milwaukee’s advantage. Joey Ortiz’s RBI single in the ninth, combined with effective relief pitching from DL Hall and Trevor Megill, sealed the Brewers’ victory.

In the era of Shohei Ohtani, this is the first time the Dodgers have shown signs of exhaustion. Comparisons have been drawn to the 2004 NBA Finals, where the Detroit Pistons dominated the Lakers. There are no standout performances from Tommy Edman or Ohtani to save the Dodgers this time.

The team’s struggles have led to speculation among fans that the Dodgers may not be putting forth their best effort. Manager Dave Roberts remains hopeful, emphasizing the importance of winning the next game to regain momentum.

“You just gotta win tomorrow,” Roberts stated, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Following the victory, Jake Bauers remarked on the difference compared to the previous year’s mindset. This time, the Brewers arrived with confidence, ready to secure a victory in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers, once perceived as an unbreakable force, now find themselves struggling. Milwaukee has an opportunity to finalize their triumph in Game 4, potentially eliminating the Dodgers from the series.
