Karoline Leavitt, a former White House press secretary, provided a candid look into her relationship with former President Donald Trump during a recent Instagram Q&A. Describing Trump as “kind and uplifting,” she also discussed personal decisions regarding her career and family.
Leavitt, 29, answered various questions from her Instagram followers while traveling, discussing topics from Trump’s personality to her future career plans and life as a mother of two. Addressing a follower’s inquiry about Trump’s demeanor, she remarked, “Yes! He’s the best boss.”
“People don’t see this side of him because the media doesn’t show it, but he has been nothing but kind and uplifting to me, even since departing,” Leavitt stated. “He’s also hilarious. Love him!”
Leavitt served as the White House press secretary from January 2025 to August 2026. She also spoke about her transition from the high-demand role to spending more time with her children.
“As Press Sec, I was working in the office 60-plus hours a week, traveling the world, and always on call 24/7,” she noted. “Now, I am home with my kids every day and doing some TV hits. These things are not the same, ma’am.”
Leavitt will officially join Fox News Channel as a contributor on November 1st. Her role was announced by Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott, highlighting her expected participation in the network’s programming.
Previously, Leavitt had worked in Trump’s initial administration as a presidential writer and assistant press secretary. She later ran for Congress in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District in 2022 and served as communications director for former House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik.
For those aspiring to succeed in public relations or politics, Leavitt offered career advice emphasizing practical experience. “My advice to people who want to get into politics or comms is to get real world experience when you’re in college,” she stated. “You’ll learn a lot in the classroom, but work experience is where you’ll truly grasp the profession.”
She interned at NBC Sports Boston, initially considering a career as a sideline sports reporter, and worked at a local news station before obtaining a White House internship. “Apply for internships, embrace every opportunity, and spend your summers gaining real-world experience, which will benefit you later in your career,” Leavitt advised.
As the youngest to serve in the role of White House press secretary, Leavitt also touched on her personal life. “I don’t have free time,” she shared. “As a mom of two little ones, finding a moment to shower in peace is rare. Yet, this is the chapter of my life, and I wouldn’t change it.”
