Dodgers’ Struggles Compared to Godfather III

The Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves in a challenging position, trailing 0-3. Some compare their situation to The Godfather: Part III. This analogy, initially made by FS1 host Colin Cowherd, draws parallels between the two scenarios.

Cowherd remarked, “The Dodgers’ attempt to win a third World Series resembles Godfather III. Familiar names like Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, and director Francis Ford Coppola return, yet the film feels stale—and likewise, the Dodgers feel worn out.”

Shohei Ohtani, known as the greatest baseball player, struggled, hitting below .200 in recent postseason games. Reports suggested the Dodgers considered benching him before Game 3 due to his performance and injuries.

The situation highlights a potential disappointment. If the Dodgers do not rally back, they would join a rare group unable to overcome a 0-3 deficit in an LCS series.

Movies like The Godfather and Part II are celebrated. However, Part III faced criticism, not living up to its predecessors. The casting of Coppola’s daughter, Sofia, and the absence of key characters detracted from the film’s impact.

Comparably, the Dodgers, with a significant payroll and additions like Tarik Skubal and Kyle Tucker, fall short of expectations. This year’s additions brought hopes of revitalizing the team but failed to deliver the desired outcome.

OutKick reporter Ian Miller, a Dodgers fan, echoed the sentiment. He suggested that the Dodgers of 2024-2025 were among the best teams, and any setbacks this year still hold some value. “As long as they don’t pursue a project like Megalopolis next year,” Miller concluded with a jest.
