Thousands Rally in ‘No Kings’ Protests Across the Nation

Thousands gathered nationwide on Saturday for the ‘No Kings’ protests, marking a “nationwide day of action” coinciding with the start of early voting in many states. Led by the No Kings Coalition, these protests aim to challenge the policies of President Trump and his administration.

Announced last month, the October 17 day of action focuses on encouraging early voting. In Washington, D.C., participants marched from the White House to the U.S. Capitol, carrying a banner reading ‘Your vote is your voice.’ Signs such as ‘Pro-American, anti-Trump’ and ‘Hands off my vote’ were prominent during the march.

At the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, Saturday, October 17, 2026, demonstrators rallied to emphasize their message against President Trump. The Associated Press captured moments from the protest with photos by Jose Luis Magana.

In Dallas, Texas, the Texas Organizing Project’s Teresa Cox addressed attendees, urging them to participate in early voting starting Monday in Texas. She emphasized the importance of informed voting, stating, ‘Voting is one of the most important ways we participate in our democracy, so learn about the issues, research the candidates, and make your own informed decisions because your vote belongs to you.’

Cox further urged the crowd to engage in daily democratic participation, not just during elections, advocating for accountability and education within communities.

Meanwhile, in Atlanta, Georgia, city council member Michael Julian Bond addressed a rally, stressing the importance of Georgia’s early voting period from October 13 to 30. Bond remarked, ‘The biggest lie that’s been told recently is that Election Day is in November. No, Election Day is early voting. Every day of early voting is Election Day.’

Protesters also gathered in New York for a ‘No Kings’ rally on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Associated Press photographer Madison Swart documented the event.

Earlier in March, the ‘No Kings’ movement organized over 3,000 demonstrations nationwide following the Trump administration’s military actions against Iran. Last year, two organizing days attracted millions, with five million in June and seven million in October voicing opposition to Trump’s policies.
