Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View,” expressed a firm stance on Tuesday, refusing the notion of meeting with President Donald Trump. During an ABC show segment, the panel discussed a recent dinner Trump hosted with comedian Bill Maher, sports commentator Stephen A. Smith, and musician Kid Rock at the White House. This prompted the co-hosts to discuss whether they would accept a similar invitation.
While Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin, both of whom have worked for Trump, stated they would attend such a dinner, Navarro emphatically declined. “Hell to the no,” Navarro said, emphasizing her disapproval. “There is no way in hell I would want to break bread or be in the same room with a man whose administration is hunting Latinos,” she added.
Navarro criticized the administration, citing polling data that shows decreased Latino support for Trump. “They are killing Latinos, chasing them, hunting them, racially profiling them,” she stated. Navarro insisted that dining with Trump would bring “zero difference” to his administration’s policies.
Sara Haines noted that Navarro has confronted Republican politicians like Sen. Thom Tillis, suggesting that political engagement can take different forms. Navarro emphasized that voter accountability in the midterm elections is crucial.
Co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg agreed with Navarro’s decision. Hostin labeled Trump “the criminal-in-chief” and condemned his actions towards various communities. Goldberg reflected on Trump’s history of racial profiling, expressing a conscientious refusal to engage with someone who dehumanizes others.
Despite the co-hosts’ rejection of a meeting, Joy Behar expressed a willingness to have Trump appear on the show for a discussion. Additionally, Kid Rock, in an interview with “Fox & Friends,” praised the diverse gathering at Trump’s dinner, highlighting the productive conversation despite differing political views.
