Democrats gathered in Henrico County, Virginia, on Monday to address the ongoing war in Iran, emphasizing its influence on upcoming elections. The event featured former representatives Elaine Luria, Tom Perriello, and former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg, alongside other prominent figures.

Elaine Luria, aiming to represent Virginia’s 2nd District, highlighted the impact on military families and criticized the administration for misleading casualty figures. This district, centered in Virginia Beach, holds significance due to its Navy presence.

Henrico prosecutor Shannon Taylor also addressed the issue, running against Rep. Rob Wittman in the 1st District. Former representative Tom Perriello, contesting in the 5th District, voiced his intent to prioritize ending the war.

Pete Buttigieg urged attendees to strive for Democratic control of the House, requiring a gain of four seats. Speaking to an energized crowd, he underscored the significance of Virginia in this pursuit.

The rally underscored the extensive implications of the Iran war, particularly in a state with considerable military dependency.
