Kansas City Chiefs Sign Controversial Kicker Justin Tucker, Sparking Reactions

The Kansas City Chiefs created a stir in the NFL by adding Justin Tucker, a contentious figure, to their practice squad. Tucker, last active in the league in 2024, was previously released by the Baltimore Ravens. This was after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him by 16 massage therapists in Baltimore. These accusations pertained to the years between 2012 and 2016.

Following the announcement, social media erupted with criticism targeting the Chiefs for recruiting such a polarizing player. Fans also recalled a past issue from 2024 involving Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Tucker, who was then with the Ravens.

This incident occurred during the AFC Championship Game. Tucker was stretching in an area meant for the Chiefs’ offense warm-ups. Unhappy with Tucker’s presence, Kelce responded by moving Tucker’s helmet and football. He discussed this on his “New Heights” podcast soon after.

“We’re warming up, and we do our same warm up every single time,” Kelce said. “… If you’re trying to go to the other team’s designated area, you kind of stay out of their way. You don’t interfere with what they have going on. That’s the unwritten rule. If you want to be a disruptive person, you keep your helmet and your football where the quarterbacks are warming up.”

According to Kelce, Tucker treated the situation as a joking competition. Kelce responded, acknowledging the playful intent but assured that he could escalate the situation further if necessary.

After the signing, Chiefs fans quickly located video footage of Kelce recounting the incident, finding humor in the awkwardness of their new team dynamic.

• “Maybe the Chiefs just did this so Kelce can regularly challenge Tucker,” one fan joked.
• “Tucker changed after Travis cursed him, and now they’re teammates. What’s going on?” said another fan.
• “They are meeting at the flagpole. Fights on,” another fan remarked.
• “Well, practice will be interesting,” another user stated.
• “Never forget Travis Kelce going after Justin Tucker on his podcast over his pregame routine in the AFC Championship,” another user quipped.
• “I just remembered this incident, and now they’re teammates. I’m sure things won’t be awkward at all,” a fan replied.
